1st time in bauko

no, i dint go there to visit marky cielo's tomb. i was there for hospital duty from aug 20-22, 2009. my group and i were assigned at Luis Hora Memorial Regional Hospital. we left @ 6am on aug 22. our shift started 3-11pm, then 11-7am. uhuh 16 hours. it was irritating that we only got 2 minor cases in the ER. the next day, our shift was 3-11pm again. no major cases still! just 2 minor again. argh. asar diba?


buti na lang yung pagod at gastos namin was not entirely wasted. we took pictures on the way home:

laptop woes

dont ever download customized windows logon.

coz i did, and it slowed down my laptop especially when its starting and shutting down. i should never believe product reviews coz the main point of it is to sell the item. of course everything will be flowery to convice downloaders. i was one of those suckers. it says in the review that i can customize the way windows starts, so i was thinking i could set my own wallpaper or something like that. i dint know that the program would not allow you to do that, it would only give you 2 options to choose from: a fugly wallper about saving the earth and the other one i cant remember anymore. so after installing it, i gave it a few days. i realized i couldnt really stand it anymore so i uninstalled it. well what do you know, even after doing that, it still there.

i downloaded another program to uninstall it again and totally remove it from the registry but its still there! i checked the program files and there still is a folder of customized windows logon w/ one file remaining: vocgina or something like that. i tried to delete it but it just keeps giving me an error. so i looked it up online and one forum said i should rename the file. and i did. it says search for the file in the registry and rename it. i restarted and thats when all my problems started. it wont restart. i tried to do a system restore, last known good config, safe mode, to no avail. had no choice but to contact aj again, my tech guy.

of course he fixed it. he only charges me P250 for formating and reinstalling everything., which i think is cheap already. im sure he's thankful that there are wanna-be geeks like me who download anything and everything they can get their hands on just to pimp their desktop.

this all happened last sunday. i brought the laptop to him last monday, got it back tuesday. im sure you dint even notice i was gone :)

so my tip for all those wanna-be's who are thinking of pimping their laptops, think again.

exams, unqualified instructors and pure luck

9:30am
just finished my last exam for the prelims. it was okay. kinda easy. nakakainis lang kasi out of the 150 pts, naulit yung ilang questions ng more than 5x. and that happened to more than probly 10 questions. its like theyre not editing the exam questions. what is the level coordinator doing? kaya ang baba ng passing rate ng school kasi ang medium of evaluation is also faulty.

10:00am
the class continued our lecture. pansin ko sa clinical instructor namin, aside from her lack of taste in fashion, super tamad syang magturo. lahat nalang pinapa-assignment nya. and her teaching, hindi maintindihan kung pano sya mag-explain. my gosh, mas magaling pa ako magturo. she always gives biased explanations of the topic. tsk tsk. pati pa nga yung quiz. for 4 meetings, we only had 1 quiz, the 2nd one we took after the lecture. sa sobrang katamaran nya, she only gave 5 items-identification. x5 nalang daw each number. ano ba yun? geez.

3:30pm
the literary-musical started with the quiz bee. there were more or less 15 of us who joined coming from different sections of the 4th year level.

the mechanics: try to come up with the right answer, otherwise youd get eliminated.

1st question: what is the number that that is raised to 0. my answer, 0. what do you know? i got eliminated haha. there were actually 2 who answered correctly. the organizers were baffled at how stupid we were so they let us come back for another round of questions, disregarding the first one.

2nd questions: who discovered the US? my answer, christopher columbus. there were only 2 of us who got it right so the others got eliminated.

3rd question: the study of cells. cytology. we both got it right.

there were 3 more questions that were asked but we both got it wrong. see how stupid we are? were not really quiz bee material. we were just the only ones who had the guts to actually join.

last question: what is DC in washington D.C. my answer: district of columbia. i got it and i was declared the winner.

so you see, anyone couldve answered that. i was just lucky that she dint know the answer.

whew

big day ahead. i have my last exam in one of my subjects at 730am. today also marks the foundation day our school. i was chosen to represent our class for the quiz bee at 1pm. so much to do and yet i just slept the whole afternoon yesterday, then i busied myself with blog templates. and oh, yeah, i plurked. argh irresposible me. bahala na si batman :)

its been a really long hiatus. thanks to my neighbor's new wifi, im creeping my way back to the intarwebs. im closing some emails, i dunno why i create so many accounts.. its confusing really, so now im trying to stick to a couple emails instead. im also plurking again. and keeping in touch wit some old friends through facebook. sheesh parang newbie. pero yey parin!

as for my blog, i was gonna re-post some of my old posts from my old blog but i decided to close it instead. new start diba? pang ilan na nga ba?

i so love my neighbor.

hopefully id have more sensible things to say in the future. for now, lets do an overhaul.
